Reduct.Video helps public defenders and criminal defense teams make sense of hours of audio/video evidence — body cam, interrogation, surveillance — by transcribing all of the content, and allowing them to search, translate, redact, clip, and create video exhibits. Our platform helps defenders turn raw video into usable evidence, and ultimately defend their clients better.

We’re on a mission to bring modern technology to public defenders — and we’re looking for someone who’s walked in the same shoes to help lead the charge.

About the role

We’re hiring a former public defender to help other defenders discover, adopt, and succeed with Reduct.

You’ll work directly with our co-founder to lead outreach, sales, and onboarding efforts in the public defense community. You’ll speak at conferences, give demos to interested offices, support them as they navigate procurement, help train new users, and shape how we support defenders nationwide.

You’ll also lead our Criminal Law Innovation Program — a pro bono initiative that supports 3–5 cutting-edge defense cases each year using advanced tech. This role is ideal for someone who knows how hard public defense can be — and is excited to make it easier.

Location: Preference for NYC or DC/Baltimore area

What you'll do

• Be the face of Reduct to public defenders — at conferences, in demos, on Zooms.
• Support procurement and adoption, helping offices navigate IT, contracting, and budgeting processes.
• Design and run training programs to onboard defenders and support real-world use.
• Review applications and select cases for our Criminal Law Innovation Program, and help manage their success.
• Bring back insights from the field — helping our team build technology for defenders.

What we’re looking for

• Former public defender with at least 3 years of experience in criminal defense.
• A great communicator, excellent presenter, and relationship-builder.
• Has high agency and follow-through.
• Tech-savvy (or at least tech-curious) and interested to learn more.
• Comfortable working independently and wearing multiple hats; excited to work in a startup environment and collaborate with colleagues from different backgrounds.

Nice to have

• Experience managing budgets or procurement.
• Experience training others or leading workshops.
• Involvement with innovation, reform, or tech initiatives in the legal field.
