FOIA Redaction Software - Easily Redact Your Video and Audio

When handling FOIA requests, you are tasked with reviewing hours-long body cam footage, emergency calls, and other recordings captured 24-7. Additionally, you are required to redact sensitive information from these recordings to meet compliance needs.

Managing this can be challenging, especially if you are juggling around with different software.

So in this article, I’ll show an easier way to review and redact your audio and video using Reduct. No prior video editing skills are required, and you can easily handle terabytes of recordings and share them hassle-free.

Let's jump right in!

How to redact video and audio? - Follow these 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Upload your recordings and review them

Import videos to reduct and search through text

You can easily add your video and audio recordings from your computer or import them in bulk from cloud services like Google Drive and Zoom.

Reduct automatically transcribes your recordings using AI. Each word in the transcript is synced with the video. Hence, you can quickly jump to specific moments by typing in relevant phrases. This text-based search feature makes reviewing faster and simpler.

You can also extract clips from different recordings and assemble them, tailoring to each FOIA request.

What I like: Reduct offers unlimited video storage. You can store all your recordings, creating a convenient and searchable archive for your video and audio.

Step 2: Select and apply redaction

After reviewing your transcripts, just select the parts that you want to redact and click on the "Redact" button.

You’ll find two options there:

  1. Redact your video: Click on "Blur video." This will give you a black box that you can move around to cover faces or sensitive information. Once you’re satisfied, click on “Apply redaction.”

  2. Redact your audio: Click on "Mute audio." Double-check the timestamp of the audio that you want to mute, then click on “Apply redaction.”
